•  Instruction is provided by certified tutors in the Orton Gillingham approach or by trainees under the supervision of an Instructor of Certified Academic Language Practitioners (ICALP). 

  • The Dyslexia Reading Center offers free training for individuals interested in receiving initial certification as tutors in the Orton-Gillingham approach.  Graduates of this training are eligible to take the National Alliance Test to become Certified Academic Language Practioners (CALP).  (Academic Language Therapy Association www.altaread.org)

  •  A minimum of a Bachelors Degree is a prerequisite for this training. Requirements for certification include a minimum of 60 hours of classroom instruction and 100 or more hours of practicum work under the supervision of qualified professionals, tutoring two children twice a week at our Center.   Training for advanced certification is also available.

  • School Districts interested in Orton-Gillingham training for teachers in their home schools can be arranged through contractual agreement with the Center.
